Bob Shapiro

Bob Shapiro is a Managing Director of Cultivian Sandbox and Co-Founder and Managing Director of Sandbox Industries. Prior to founding Sandbox, Bob was theChairman of Pharmacia, Chairman and CEO of Monsanto, and Chairman and CEO of The NutraSweet Company. He also served as Vice President and General Counsel of G.D. Searle & Company General Instrument Corporation. Bob started his career practicing law in New York City; servicing in the government as Special Assistant to the Undersecretary of the U.S Department of Transportation; and teaching law at Northeastern University in Boston and University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Bob represents Cultivian Sandbox on the board of directors of Advanced Animal Diagnostics. Bob holds an AB from Harvard and a JD from Columbia University.

Bob is currently a Director of Sapphire Energy, Intrexon, Agraquest, and Elevance Renewable Sciences. Previously, Bob served on the boards of Citigroup, Rockwell International, Sequus Pharmaceuticals, NYSE Euronext and Silicon Graphics, and also as a trustee of Barnes-Jewish Hospital (St. Louis) and Northwestern Memorial Hospital (Chicago). He has also served on the President’s Advisory Committee on Trade Policy and on the White House Domestic Policy Review of Industrial Innovation. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
