Yard Stick is developing a spectrometer that can be used to accurately and cheaply measure soil carbon in-situ, with the goal of achieving similar accuracy to core sampling. The company is seeking to open the carbon markets by making it economical for growers to measure the change in soil carbon as a result of adopting carbon sequestering farming practices, while also providing buyers of carbon credits the confidence that the offset they are purchasing truly represents a carbon reduction.
